Overview
Henry Ford Health is seeking a Division Head in the Department of Pediatrics, Division of Gastroenterology, Hepatology, Pancreatology and Nutrition. This position includes opportunity for a faculty appointment within the Department of Pediatrics at Michigan State University and Wayne State University (rank is determined by individual accomplishments), a competitive salary, and full benefits package.

The Department Of Pediatrics
As part of exciting development, Henry Ford Health has launched the growth of its Pediatric services. The vision includes expansion of the inpatient footprint and development of all Pediatric subspecialties. Henry Ford Health Pediatrics is a systems Department with an inpatient presence at its West Bloomfield Hospital, Macomb Hospital and Henry Ford Hospital. Henry Ford has recently merged with Ascension South East Michigan and now has a larger pediatric footprint with Henry Ford St John’s Children’s Hospital.
The flagship campus downtown is the location of a $3 billion major investment for the system with its “Destination Grand.” The expansion includes a new academic medical center at Henry Ford Hospital and collaboration with Shirley Ryan Ability Lab to create a new inpatient rehabilitation hospital within the new patient tower. The state-of-the-art medical research facility for Henry Ford Health + Michigan State University Health Sciences will support multiple shared research efforts benefiting patients regionally and globally.
There is an expansive primary care network for Pediatrics, with ongoing growth of comprehensive specialty care. The department serves more than 250 physicians/providers and over 150 support staff, delivering clinical care at more than 40 sites, including 9 Henry Ford hospitals and more than 12 ambulatory centers. Level 3 and Level 2 NICU care are provided by a strong neonatology team, with hospitalist support for inpatient services.
Henry Ford St John’s Children’s Hospital offers PICU, Pediatric ED services and pediatric subspecialties.
The Department receives medical students and residents from Michigan State University and Wayne State University and participates in academic development and research with both entities. A Pediatric Residency Program with 27 residents exists at Henry Ford St John’s Hospital. The Division of Pediatric Gastroenterology is an integral and foundational specialty with centers of excellence in IBD, Nutrition, Celiac, Hepatobiliary and Pancreas, Airway, EOE and Food Allergy, Neurogastroenterology, and Advanced Feeding.
There is robust Adult GI and Hepatology/Transplant support, with transition programs and ongoing multi-disciplinary clinical and research collaboration.
Clinical responsibilities include ambulatory and inpatient care, consultative services, and performance of general GI procedures. The Division Head is expected to lead and participate in the supervision and education of medical students and residents. Competence in general pediatric gastrointestinal procedures is required. The role includes leadership opportunities within the Department of Pediatrics and the system as part of the expansion.
Minimum Qualifications- M.D., Ph.D. / M.D. / D.O. degree, or equivalent
- Completion of an ACGME approved fellowship in Pediatric Gastroenterology
- Licensed by the Michigan Medical Board
- Board Certification by the American Board of Pediatrics, subspecialty certification in pediatric gastroenterology medicine (or eligible for same)
