What You’ll Do
We are seeking an experienced Senior Buyer to lead the procurement of materials, components, and services that support manufacturing operations, product development, and defense-related programs. This role is critical to ensuring supply continuity, regulatory compliance, and cost-effective sourcing in a highly regulated environment.
The ideal candidate brings strong negotiation skills, supplier management expertise, and a strategic mindset, paired with hands‑on execution in a fast‑paced manufacturing setting.
What You Bring
- Source, evaluate, and select suppliers to ensure quality, cost efficiency, and on‑time delivery
- Negotiate pricing, terms, and contracts while maintaining strong supplier relationships
- Issue and manage purchase orders, monitor delivery schedules, and resolve delays or shortages
- Partner with engineering, production, and quality teams to ensure materials meet specifications and compliance requirements
- Monitor supplier performance, maintain vendor scorecards, and implement corrective actions as needed
- Maintain accurate procurement records within ERP and related tracking systems
- Support cost‑reduction, value engineering, and continuous improvement initiatives
- Ensure compliance with ITAR, AS9100, and other applicable defense and aerospace regulations
- Mentor and support junior purchasing staff, sharing best practices and process guidance
- Stay informed on market trends, material availability, and supplier capabilities to mitigate risk and optimize sourcing strategies
- Perform other related duties as assigned
- Strong knowledge of sourcing, vendor management, contract negotiation, and cost analysis
- Proficiency with ERP systems and Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment
- Highly analytical, detail‑oriented, and results‑driven
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience considered
- 5–10+ years of procurement or purchasing experience, ideally within manufacturing, defense, or aerospace industries
