The purpose of this position is to manage the day-to-day support and utilization of the City’s audio / video equipment and broadcast platforms at all city facilities. Other duties include determining A/V needs, making recommendations for technologies, designing and implementing new A/V solutions, and providing training and documentation of A/V systems to end users.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities- Installs, configures, and supports audio visual systems and related hardware and software including digital signage in all city facilities, playing a primary role at the Aquatic and Recreation Center. This includes but is not limited to: media rooms, council chambers, conference / meeting rooms and training rooms.
- Perform preventative maintenance testing and troubleshooting of AV systems comprising of but not limited to video and audio conferencing, projection, sound and microphone reinforcement, audio distribution etc.
- Provide end user training and assistance to employees and citizens.
- Serve as subject matter expert in coordinating and contracting with third-party audio-visual applications, hardware, and services.
- Maintains current inventory, documentation, procedures, diagrams, source code, system passwords, and user instructions of all A/V systems.
- Assists with computer desktop and telephone support as required.
- Performs other assigned duties.
- Associate’s Degree in Information Technology, Multimedia, or related field;
- Four years of related work experience in information technology or Audio Visual field;
- Must pass full Texas DPS criminal background check per FBI CJIS requirements;
- Or equivalent training, education, and/or experience; and
- Valid Driver’s License.
- Knowledge of public sector/municipal government organization, operations, policies, and procedures.
- Remain current with A/V and broadcast standards and trends.
- Knowledge of the following:
Crestron and Extron equipment, recording equipment, broadcast principles, mixing consoles, cameras, audio and video formats. - Ability to troubleshoot AV issues and resolve them in a timely manner.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to read, analyze and interpret complex materials and guides.
- Must possess strong communication and interpersonal skills in dealing with users and the ability to develop and maintain professional working relationships with City administration, other employees, vendors, and the general public.
- Ability to work after hours or weekends occasionally.

Vacation Non-civil service employees accrue 6.67 hours per month (2 weeks per year). All police employees accrue 10 hours per month (3 weeks per year). All Fire employees accrue 15 hours per month (7.5 - 24 hour shifts a year).
Sick Leave Non-civil service employees accrue 10 hours per month (3 weeks per year). All police employees accrue 10 hours per month (3 weeks per year). All Fire employees accrue 15 hours per month (7.5 - 24 hour shifts a year).
Holidays Non-civil service employees receive 13 paid holidays per year including one personal or "floating" day.
Longevity Pay Earned at a rate of $4 per month. This is calculated on number of years of service up to and including 25 years (maximum $1200).
Worker's Compensation Worker’s compensation coverage is provided for all employees.
Fire/Police Eligible for Education/Certification pay.
Deferred Compensation Plans
