Position Description

Immediately hiring a Permanent Full Time Master Level Diesel Technician to support our Truck Fleet at Ryder in Des Moines, Iowa.

Compensation & Benefits
  • Hourly Pay: $37.65 per hour
  • Certification Bonus of $100 for each new ASE Certification up to $700
  • Quarterly Bonus: up to $500 Every Quarter - Four Times Per Year

    Monday–Friday, Weekends OFF

Qualifications
  • 18 years of age or older
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Vocational or Technical Certification / Post‑Secondary degree or certifications, preferred
  • Basic tools required
  • Demonstrated aptitude and applied experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines, including:
    • Routine preventative maintenance (oil changes, brake and tire work)
    • Diagnostics and repairs, including AC and electrical systems
    • Advanced skilled level repairs (major engine, diesel after‑treatment, automotive fuel injection)
  • Four (4) years or more relevant work experience, preferred
  • Ability to read codes and instructions on a computer
  • Computer experience in Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, internet, and related programs
  • Maintenance computerized programs to create reports or communicate with customers, vendors and company representatives
  • Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) Class A preferred
  • All other certifications as required by location
Additional Requirements
  • Must have a Valid Driver's License and meet Ryder's driving qualifications
  • Must meet minimum Tech II up to Tech IV qualifications plus at least 6 months supervisory or training experience
  • Ability to work flexible schedules, including shift work, weekends, holidays and on‑call rotations for roadside assistance
  • Proficiency in SMO, SBT, payroll system, warranty recovery and employee handbook
  • Thorough understanding of unit utilization procedures
  • Must drive Ryder vehicles; must obtain CDL within 6 months after hire
  • Pass a Ryder Drug Test, DOT Physical, Ryder Road Test, and Ryder Background and Motor Vehicle Check including drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last 3 years
Responsibilities
  • Assist and train technicians as needed, provide customer service to daily customers, and give feedback to the Service Manager on employee performance for appraisal or disciplinary purposes
  • May also oversee parts distribution & inventory, shop reporting, warranty recovery, unit tracking, payroll administration and other duties assigned by the Supervisor/Manager

Ideal candidate will have a minimum of 6 months in their current position and possess a record of good performance, attendance, safety and teamwork.
