Overview
Immediately hiring a Permanent Full Time Master Level Diesel Technician to support our Truck Fleet at Ryder in Des Moines, Iowa.

Video/Tech In Charge
- Responsible for assisting and training Technicians as needed, providing customer service to daily customers, and giving feedback to the Service Manager on the performance of employees for appraisal or disciplinary purposes
- In addition, the Technician in Charge may also oversee parts distribution & inventory, shop reporting, warranty recovery, unit tracking, payroll administration and other duties assigned by the Supervisor/Manager
- 18 years of age or older
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Vocational or Technical Certification, post-secondary degree or technical certifications preferred
- Basic tools, required
- Demonstrated aptitude and applied experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines including: routine preventative maintenance (oil changes, brake and tire work), diagnostics and repairs (AC, electrical systems), and advanced skilled level repairs (major engine repairs, diesel after treatment or automotive fuel injection repairs) with four (4) years or more relevant work experience preferred
- Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) Class A preferred
- All other certifications as required by location
- Must have a valid driver's license and meet Ryder's driving qualifications
- Tech II up to Tech IV qualifications with a minimum of 6 months supervisory or training experience
- Ability to work flexible schedules including shift work, weekends, holidays and on-call rotations
- Proficiency in SMO, SBT, payroll system, warranty recovery and employee handbook
- Thorough understanding of unit utilization procedures
- Must drive Ryder vehicles and be able to obtain CDL within 6 months after hire
- Pass Ryder drug test, DOT physical, road test, and background/motor vehicle check (last 3 years)
- Hourly pay: $37.65 per hour
- Certification Bonus of $100 for each new ASE Certification up to $700
- Quarterly bonus: up to $500 per quarter
- Sign-on bonuses: $2,500 at 30 days and $2,500 at 90 days
- Annual merit pay increases, paid training, medical/dental/vision, 401(k) with company match
- 12 weeks paid maternity leave, PTO accrual from day one (80 hours/year), additional day off for U.S. military veterans
