Maintenance Technician / Mechanic
Job Summary
Responsible for maintaining operational condition of Podzilla equipment at all Storage Centers within a designated territory. Performs scheduled maintenance and minor repairs on the patented hydraulic lift system, including engine troubleshooting, electrical diagnostics, and light welding. Documents all work in the Work Order System and provides updates to management. Assists with forklift preventative maintenance, structural welding repairs, and training as qualified.
Ensures a safe and clean working environment and may perform light carpentry and repairs inside storage centers.
- Perform scheduled maintenance and minor repair on Podzilla hydraulic lift system.
- Document repairs and preventive maintenance using the Work Order System.
- Perform structural repairs on flatbed trucks or Podzillas if certified.
- Serve as a PODS Train the Trainer for new technicians if qualified.
- Conduct preventative maintenance on forklifts when qualified.
- Order parts from internal and external sources as needed.
- Maintain all PODS-owned repair tools and diagnostic equipment.
- Provide training to drivers on proper lift system use to reduce repairs.
- Travel flexibly between storage centers in the assigned territory.
- Repair damaged containers to PODS standards and perform light carpentry work (≤20% of time).
Reports to Management; direct supervisor titles include Market Manager, Territory Manager. Typically not responsible for hiring/termination or performance management, but may manage temporary staff during busy seasons.
Job Qualifications– Education & Experience Requirements
- 3–5 years of engine repair experience (forklift, hydraulic systems, vehicle maintenance, small engine repair).
- AWS Structural Steel Welding Certificate (AWS D1.1) or equivalent mechanical certification.
- Certified PODS Trainer for Podzilla repairs.
- Forklift repair experience (4+ years) or Certified Forklift Technician (CFT) certificate.
- ASE Automotive certification accepted.
- Experience using fleet maintenance software (preferred).
- Current valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Light/medium carpentry skills.
- Prior supervisory or team leader experience; warehouse experience preferred.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
