Performs semi-skilled to skilled maintenance on various mechanical, electrical and carpentry projects.

• Service work – determine and correct problems with a/c units, heaters, plumbing, light refrigeration, electrical, etc.
• Preventative maintenance – check lights, doors, change filters, check all types of equipment for problems and repair if any problems found.
• Moving and storage of furniture – transporting furniture and equipment from one location to another without damaging.
• Misc yard work, painting, carpentry, minor plumbing repairs and snow removal.
• Operate required vehicle(s) safely.
• Cross trained at all Mercy Medical Center Facilities.
• May perform snow removal.

• Assist contractors and others in servicing equipment.
• Computer / data entry knowledge.

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
• Have two (2) years experience in preventative maintenance and service work.
• Valid Driver’s / Chauffeurs License required, must meet Mercy’s Motor Vehicle Safety Standards, must be at least 18 years of age and be eligible to drive per Iowa state law.

• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
• Ability to speak effectively to employees or before groups.
• Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
• Read, write and speak English.

• Reports to area supervisor.
