This is a truck‑based controls technician position focused on preventive maintenance, repair, installation, and commissioning of HVAC building automation systems. The role requires direct customer interface and mentoring of junior technicians.

$24.00/hr – $36.00/hr

Under minimal supervision, you will conduct preventive maintenance, repair, installation, and commissioning of HVAC building automation systems, ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction.

• Diagnose and repair complex control system malfunctions, using extensive knowledge of electronic and digital controls.
• Consult with customers through data collection and site assessments; provide field proposals for retrofits, upgrades, or enhancements.
• Manage assigned work to meet efficient execution and customer satisfaction; report issues to management promptly.
• Provide sketches of field changes and coordination drawings for engineering corrections.
• Communicate regularly with customers to maintain high satisfaction and recommend system improvements.
• Lead safety initiatives and provide instruction to all control technicians.
• Train customers in control system operations and deliver manuals and documentation.
• Mentor controls and service technicians on complex building automation systems.
• Compile job documentation, including completion certificates, training forms, and punch lists.
• Engage in self‑study and obtain certifications to maintain technical proficiency.
• Assist in design, configuration, and testing of building control systems; create flow diagrams, sequence of operations, and network layouts.
• Support project as‑built and close‑out documentation; coordinate with subcontractors and other trades.
• Provide recommendations and quotes for efficiency upgrades, upselling opportunities, and system enhancements.

• Dedicated member of a North America branch team, willing to learn and take responsibility for system troubleshooting, repair, and aftermarket services.
• Minimum of four (4) years of commercial controls troubleshooting experience in HVAC, including buildings, chiller plants, and systems.
• Vocational school diploma or associate’s degree in a technical field, or two years of experience servicing electronic and/or mechanical systems.
• Demonstrated ability to install and service electronic control systems and HVAC equipment.
• Effective communication skills to represent Johnson Controls on customer sites.
• Ability to explain technical information to both technical and non‑technical audiences.
• Strong writing skills and proficiency with programming and software applications.
• Knowledge of control theory, automatic temperature controls, building automation systems, and related subsystems.
