Chemist Job Description
The Chemist will assist the Lab Supervisor in organizing and maintaining quality control systems and audits, serve as the primary point of contact for troubleshooting quality issues, and perform quality control tests and analyses. The Chemist will interpret analytical findings to assess compliance with chemical standards and report findings to leadership. This role also involves developing and validating low-level active ingredient assays, assisting in the repair and maintenance of laboratory equipment, and maintaining a clean work environment.
Excellent customer service to both internal and external customers is expected.
- Assist the Lead Chemist with special projects and equipment troubleshooting.
- Refine and troubleshoot formulations by asking the right questions and solving problems.
- Serve as a backup for on-call needs.
- Gradually take on more complex projects and client interactions.
- Contribute to a collaborative, evolving lab environment.
- Perform all Quality Assurance Technician job duties and responsibilities.
- Communicate with contract customers regarding quality control issues.
- Follow all company policies and procedures.
- Ensure regular and reliable attendance.
- Proficiency in HPLC and GC.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
- Project management experience.
- Organizational skills.
- Experience with Windows operating systems and Microsoft Office 365.
- Ability to operate and repair gas chromatograph and HPLC.
Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in chemistry or biology.
- Laboratory experience with gas chromatograph and HPLC.
- LCMS experience is a plus.
- Self‑starter with strong problem‑solving skills.
- Proven ability to collaborate effectively across company departments.
This role is based in a plant/warehouse/lab setting with moderate to loud noise levels and involves exposure to fumes, airborne particles, and chemical and biological hazards. The position requires the ability to stand for long periods in extreme hot or cold temperatures and the availability to work rotating shifts, including weekends. Standard hours are Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM, with extended hours during the busy season from October to May.
The slow season offers flexible scheduling, including potential Fridays off during summer. Physical requirements include standing, walking, sitting, and using hands for various tasks (8+ hours/day), lifting/pushing/pulling up to 50 lbs, and reaching overhead up to 25 lbs. Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $70000.00 - $75000.00/yr.
