Blue Pearl Pet Hospital in Des Moines, IA is seeking a full-time Emergency Service Head Veterinarian (ERSH) who will work alongside our ER Clinicians, Specialists, and Leadership Team to ensure the highest quality medicine and services for pets and our community.

• The Emergency Service Head role offers a unique blend of clinical practice and leadership, allowing you to directly impact patient care while mentoring and supporting your ER clinician team.
• This position provides the opportunity to shape the ER service through scheduling, hiring, and training decisions, lead team meetings, and represent the ER department in hospital leadership.
• Working closely with the Medical Director, you'll play a key role in ensuring high-quality patient care and fostering a collaborative, growth-oriented environment.

• Blue Pearl Pet Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa is the largest 24‑hour emergency and referral center in the greater Des Moines area.
• IVRC is centrally located and easy to get to from anywhere in the metro area.
• In addition to offering 24/7 emergency medicine, we also have board‑certified and residency‑trained clinicians specializing in cardiology, critical care, internal medicine, oncology and surgery.

• DVM from accredited university required.
• Successful completion of rotating internship or the Blue Pearl's EmERge program required.
• 2+ years of clinical experience required.
• Must possess valid applicable DVM licensure.
• Demonstrated capacity to multitask and successfully manage competing priorities required.
• Prior shift lead experience preferred.
• Strong leadership ability with excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
• Demonstrated stress tolerance and attention to detail.
• Strong ability to mentor and train less experienced clinicians and interns.
