Med/Surg Registered Nurse (RN) – Travel Nurse | 12-hr Nights | Des Moines, IA (50309)

Travel Nursing Opportunity: 13-week Med/Surg RN travel assignment in Des Moines, IA — 12-hour night shifts; EPIC EMR experience preferred. Join a leading medical center’s Med/Surg team and advance your acute care nursing career.

• Location: Des Moines, IA 50309 — Des Moines healthcare, central Iowa nursing jobs
• Estimated Weekly Pay: $2,020 - $2,130 per week
• Assignment Length: 13 weeks (March 30, 2026 – June 29, 2026)
• Setting: 22-bed Med/Surg Unit — acute care, adult medical-surgical and telemetry patients
• Role: Med/Surg Registered Nurse (RN) / Travel Nurse
• Shift: 12-hour nights, 4 shifts per week (48 hours/week)
• Weekend/Holiday: Usually every other weekend and holiday rotation (flexible based on department needs)
• Floating: Required to float across all campuses to similar Med/Surg/Telemetry units
• Electronic Medical Record: EPIC
• Scrub Color: Navy Blue

• Active Iowa RN license or compact/multistate license at time of submission (Registered Nurse)
• At least 2 years (24 months) of recent Med/Surg, Medical-Surgical, or Telemetry RN experience — acute care hospital nursing
• Previous travel nursing experience within the past 18 months (preferred)
• Current BLS certification from AHA or American Red Cross
• Experience with EPIC EMR (electronic charting and documentation)
• De-escalation certificate (MAB, MOAB, CPI, SAMA) highly preferred — can be obtained during onboarding
• Professional reference from a charge nurse, supervisor, nurse manager, director, CNO, or COO within the past 24 months (preferred)
• Driver's License (required)
• Skills checklist specific to Med/Surg (required)

• Deliver high-quality, compassionate care to a diverse patient population on a general Med/Surg unit (hospital nursing)
• Administer medications, monitor drips (including Heparin), and perform routine assessments
• Provide telemetry monitoring as needed and recognize acute changes in patient condition
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams (physicians, RRT, PT/OT, case management) to develop and implement patient care plans
• Document patient information accurately and timely in EPIC EMR
• Float to similar units across multiple campuses as needed — flexibility in travel nursing assignment
• Participate in weekend and holiday rotations as scheduled
• Maintain a safe, supportive environment for patients and staff and follow hospital protocols
