Join UnityPoint Health – Des Moines as a Nursing Supervisor in our Operating Room
, where you’ll provide leadership and support to a highly skilled surgical services team.

Shift: Monday–Friday | Variable shifts: 6:30 AM–4:30 PM and 10:30 AM–9:00 PM

In this role, you’ll help manage day-to-day operations in a Level One Trauma Center with 16 OR suites offering a full spectrum of surgical services—including cardiac, transplant, orthopedics, plastics, general surgery, pediatrics, neurosurgery, urology, gynecology, ENT, and vascular surgery. You’ll supervise and develop staff while ensuring quality, cost-effective care for perioperative patients of all ages, from neonates to geriatrics.

• Manages daily operations of patient care. Contributes to the maintenance ofhigh quality, cost effectiveservices consistent with the needs of the users and the hospital’s budgetary guidelines.
• Provides clinical leadership by directing,coordinating and delegating patient care in an organized manner, allowing for flexibility.
• Collaborates with physicians and other health care team members to achieveoptimalpatient outcomes.
• Remains competent and available toparticipatein patient care pertinent to clinical specialty.
• Demonstrates personal andprofessionalgrowth and promotes the sameamongteam members.
• Maintains awareness of applicable laws and/or regulations affecting patient care.

• Assistsin developing annual budget andtakesappropriateactionwhenappropriate tomaintaincontrol ofdepartmentfinancial resources.
• Implantsevidence basedpracticestrategies to meet the patient care needs.
  
  Assistsin the achievement of quality improvement objectives and takesnecessary modifications for attainment of goals.
• Interviews, orients, trains, schedules, evaluates,disciplines, andterminates staff with appropriate input. Demonstrates the ability tofairly and consistently interpret, apply and follow personnel policies/procedures.
• Is able to instruct and lead the staff so that a high level of productivity is maintained, intervening when necessary to problem solve.

Education:

• Bachelor's Degree

Experience:

• One year experience as a registered nurse

License(s)/

Certifications:

• Current Iowa License as a registered nurse
• Current BCLS certification
