Overview
The VA Central Iowa HCS is seeking (1) full-time Advanced Nurse Practitioner - Dermatology. The Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) Certified Nurse Practitioner (NP) practices in Dermatology Service to provide a full range of services emphasizing quality, timeliness, and the advancement of the Veterans Affairs (VA) mission. The NP provides advanced clinical practice, consultation, and management.
Responsibilities- The VA Midwest Health Care Network advocates for a Whole Health System of care in each of the Medical Centers.

- The Advanced Nurse Practitioner - Dermatology is a licensed independent practitioner with advanced education and national certification who provides evidence-based care for a population of patients.
- Duties include:
Independently manages patient consultation services and follow up care of dermatologic health conditions with an emphasis on health promotion and disease prevention using evidence-based practice. - Develops and implements an individualized plan to achieve optimal population health and disease management.
- The Dermatology APN shall refer recognized medical problems beyond privileges of the APN to the physician or appropriate specialty service for definitive diagnosis and treatment.
- Demonstrates leadership and works collaboratively with the interdisciplinary team.
- Orders and interprets labs, tests, and diagnostic studies.
- Performs appropriate dermatologic diagnostic and therapeutic procedures in the outpatient setting in the work-up and management of dermatologic pathology.
- Prescribes pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic interventions.
- Initiates referrals and consults to specialty services.
- Provides education to patients and their families.
- Assesses and adjusts the plan of care as needed to achieve optimal patient outcomes.

- Rotational coverage at Community Based Outpatient Clinics.
The position requires the Advanced Nurse Practitioner - Dermatology to be a licensed independent practitioner with advanced education and national certification, providing evidence-based care for a patient population. Licensure: 1 full and unrestricted license from any US State or territory. Credentials should reflect eligibility for dermatology practice as appropriate for a PA/SNP/APN scope and privileges.
Work Schedule and EnvironmentSchedule:
Monday – Friday, 7:30am – 4:00pm. This is not a virtual position. Rotational coverage at Community Based Outpatient Clinics is included as part of duties.
