North 3 consists of a 24‑bed post‑surgical cardiac and vascular nursing department caring for patients recovering from cardiac surgeries and procedures, including cardiothoracic, cardiovascular surgery, electrophysiology procedures, and percutaneous transluminal coronary angioplasty (PTCA). The fast‑paced environment involves high‑acuity patients requiring cardiac care and telemetry monitoring.

All newly licensed RNs with less than six months of acute RN experience at the time of application are required to participate in the RN Residency program. Newly licensed nurses must apply for Registered Nurse Residency.

Successfully functions as a Registered Nurse as defined in Iowa Nursing Regulations and Practice Act. Provides nursing care for patients and families and maintains a practice environment that reflects the ANA Code for Nurses, the Philosophy of Nursing at UnityPoint Health‑Des Moines within the structure of the Professional Nurse Practice Model, and in collaboration with other caregivers.

Graduate of an accredited nursing program.

Current licensure in good standing to practice as a Registered Nurse in Iowa.

Newly licensed nurse within the last six months or less than six months of acute RN experience.

• Level 3 Medium Work:
  Exerting up to 50 lbs of force occasionally, up to 20 lbs frequently, and up to 10 lbs constantly to move objects.
• Completion of residency program within the first 12 months of employment.
