12 Hour Day Shift

7 North (7N) is a specialized cardiac telemetry unit focused on the care of patients recovering from cardiovascular surgery, including procedures such as coronary artery bypass grafts (CABG), transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR), and various thoracic and vascular surgeries. After patients stabilize in the critical care unit, they are typically transferred to 7N for continued care.

Nurses on 7N are trained to provide expert care for patients with complex cardiac conditions, including those with Ventricular Assist Devices (VADs). They are skilled in managing a variety of critical interventions, such as chest tubes, central lines, and temporary pacemakers, ensuring optimal recovery and patient outcomes.

Join the Mercy One Family! We are looking to hire an amazing Cardiac Telemetry RN. As a Registered Nurse on the Cardiac Telemetry unit at Mercy One, you will provide individualized, high-quality care to patients of all ages. You will use a team approach to delegate and coordinate care during admission, transfer, and discharge. In this role, you will independently deliver nursing care in accordance with the Nurse Practice Act, Mercy One policies, nursing standards, ethical principles, and professional judgment.

• Assess, plan, and implement nursing care while ensuring patient comfort.
• Practice safe patient handling techniques.
• Continuously evaluate assigned patients and provide ongoing treatment.
• Anticipate, identify, and respond to the educational and emotional needs of patients and families.
• Guide and direct healthcare personnel (i.e., Patient Care Technicians) in caring for patients.
• Maintain knowledge of equipment setup, maintenance, and use (i.e., IV pumps, monitoring equipment, and drainage devices).
• Utilize safeguards such as IV pump drug libraries and monitor alarms whenever available to maximize patient safety.
• Initiate emergency support measures (i.e., cardiopulmonary resuscitation, protecting patients from injury).
• Assist with patient care duties/tasks (i.e., emptying drainage devices, ambulating, and hygiene).
