Overview
The Iowa Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), Division of State-Operated Specialty Care, Bureau of Cherokee Mental Health Institute (CMHI) is seeking a part-time Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team. This is a part-time opportunity with a 28 hours/week schedule, a possible shift differential of $0.90 per hour for second shift and $1.00 per hour for third shift, plus strong opportunity for growth and development.
At CMHI, our team of RNs provides active inpatient treatment to adults in need of acute psychiatric care. The RN will direct services provided by Licensed Practical Nurses, Resident Treatment Technicians, and Resident Treatment Workers, carry out prescribed treatments, document care provided, and participate with the Treatment Team in planning and carrying out the Treatment Plan Interventions while maintaining a safe, therapeutic environment for our patients.
Applicants will be required to complete a background check to be considered for this position.
Responsibilities- Provide active inpatient treatment to adults in need of acute psychiatric care, using the Nursing process.
- Direct services provided by Licensed Practical Nurses, Resident Treatment Technicians, and Resident Treatment Workers.
- Carry out prescribed treatments, document care, and participate with the Treatment Team in planning and carrying out Treatment Plan Interventions.
- Maintain a safe, therapeutic environment for patients.
- Licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Iowa by the Iowa Board of Nursing or licensure as a Registered Nurse in accordance with the Nurse Licensure Compact Administrator's Agreement of the National Council of State Boards of Nursing.

CMHI provides active inpatient treatment to adults in need of acute psychiatric care. The facility offers individualized treatment plans. Support for patients with special education needs to continue their education is provided, and individuals are encouraged to collaborate with staff members in formulating their own plan. Medication, group counseling, and activity therapies might be included as well.
