Summary

The VA Central Iowa HCS is seeking (1) full-time Advanced Nurse Practitioner - Dermatology. The Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) Certified Nurse Practitioner (NP) practices in Dermatology Service to provide a full range of services emphasizing quality - timeliness - and the advancement of the Veterans Affairs (VA) mission. The NP provides advanced clinical practice - consultation - and management.

• The Advanced Nurse Practitioner - Dermatology is a licensed independent practitioner with advanced education and national certification who provides evidence‑based care for a population of patients
• Duties include:
  
  Independently manages patient consultation services and follow up care of dermatologic health conditions with an emphasis on health promotion and disease prevention using evidence‑based practice
• Develops and implements an individualized plan to achieve optimal population health and disease management
• The Dermatology APN shall refer recognized medical problems beyond privileges of the APN to the physician or appropriate specialty service for definitive diagnosis and treatment
• Demonstrates leadership and works collaboratively with the interdisciplinary team
• Orders and interprets labs - tests - and diagnostic studies
• Performs appropriate Dermatologic diagnostic and therapeutic procedures in the outpatient setting in the work‑up and management of Dermatologic pathology
• Prescribes pharmacologic and non‑pharmacologic interventions
• Initiates referrals and consults to specialty services
• Provides education to patients and their families
• Assesses and adjusts the plan of care as needed to achieve optimal patient outcomes
