Overview
Kemin is seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician to join our team in Des Moines. This role plays a key part in supporting plant production by ensuring maximum equipment uptime through effective maintenance and repair. Responsibilities include working with blueprints, demonstrating machining proficiency, and consistently executing the Preventative Maintenance program. In addition, this position involves fabricating and installing new production processes to enhance efficiency.
The ideal candidate will be proficient in troubleshooting mechanical breakdowns, machine repair, welding, piping, machine rigging, and mechanical problem-solving. This position is located at our Headquarters in Des Moines and will be working on the 2nd shift schedule, including an on-call rotation.

- Perform advanced maintenance including welding, electrical, refrigeration, HVAC, etc.
- Complete preventative maintenance and repairs within established timelines.
- Provide input with Engineering on process improvements and installation of equipment.
- Troubleshoot breakdowns and correct problems.
- Fabricate components from blueprints; assemble and disassemble machinery.
- Maintain refrigeration systems.
- Ensure safety compliance and assist with installation of equipment as needed.
- Be available for on-call rotation as necessary.
- Education and Experience:
High School Diploma with 5-10 years of related experience OR Technical School with 4-6 years of related experience - Must be able to troubleshoot and problem solve
- Time management and basic project management skills
- Advanced technical skills including machine repair, piping, pump rebuilding, HVAC, etc.
- Advanced electrical troubleshooting
- Ability to read blueprints and technical manuals
- Qualified with Lockout-Tagout, Confined Space, Hot-Work Procedures, and PPE
