Position: Director of Employee Benefits and Operations

Overview

The Iowa State Education Association represents preK-12 educators, education support professionals, community college faculty, Area Education Agency professionals, retired educators, and aspiring educators with contracts covering more than 50,000 employees. ISEA’s mission is to advocate for policies and practices that elevate the profession and public education while placing students at the center of everything we do.

Responsibilities
  • Administer employee benefit plans, including enrollments, terminations, benefit changes, and benefit education to staff and retirees.
  • Administer benefit plans in accordance with federal and state regulations and ensure compliance with staff collective bargaining agreements.
  • Develop and foster effective relationships with staff, management team, retirees, clients, and various non-employee vendors.
  • Review and process the monthly invoices from benefit providers.
  • Prepare and submit various filings and reports as needed.
  • Communicate organizational policies and procedures and ensure proper compliance is followed.
  • Build, direct, and process employee payroll.
  • Conduct new hire orientation and employee onboarding.
  • Maintain paper and electronic personnel records.
  • Maintain organization charts and employee directories.
  • Coordinate building operations with the property management company.
  • Participate as a member of the management team.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • 2-year degree in Business or Business Management preferred, or equivalent experience.
  • Previous supervisory experience preferred.
Working Conditions

Generally sedentary work. This position requires the individual to stand, sit, walk short distances, and lift up to 40lbs periodically. A valid driver’s license is required.

Salary and Benefits

$75,000 - $84,000

Benefits include family health, dental, vision, life, long-term disability, AD&D, paid vacation and sick leave, 401(k), and a fully funded employer-paid pension plan.
