OpportunityOur Government & Public Sector Financial Accounting Advisory Services (GPS FAAS) team is growing exponentially, and as a Senior Manager you'll play a key role in that growth. Working across all Federal GPS sector service lines, you'll develop your career by communicating creative, strategic goals both internally and externally. It's all about listening to and understanding our clients to give them a truly exceptional experience in a field where there really are no off-the-shelf recommendations.
YourKey Responsibilities
The nature of this role means no two projects will be the same. You will actively pursue business development activities, implement strategies and tactical steps within and outside EY, identify opportunities, develop proposal responses, train staff and execute engagement deliverables simultaneously. You will think on your feet, challenge existing practices to develop answers to complex issues, collaborate with colleagues across multiple service lines, build relationships and identify opportunities for our clients, and travel regularly to meet key clients.

- Develop and maintain strong, productive working relationships with advisory client personnel, assess clients' satisfaction and proactively maintain contact with the client throughout the year.
- Direct field work, inform supervisors of the advisory engagement status and manage assurance staff performance.
- Demonstrate a thorough understanding of complex governmental accounting (i.e., GASB), budgetary reporting and auditing concepts and apply them to client situations, experience executing advisory/consulting type work (reporting or transformations).
- Develop people through effectively delegating audit tasks and providing guidance to assurance staff.
- Provide performance feedback, training and performance reviews for assurance staff.
- Contribute ideas/opinions to the assurance teams and listen/respond to other assurance team members' views.
- Foster an efficient, innovative and team-oriented work environment.
- Use technology to continually learn, share knowledge with assurance team members and enhance service delivery.
- Develop an understanding of EY's service lines and actively seek/encourage assurance team members to contribute ideas and identify opportunities to apply the firm's services.
- U.S. CPA license in your work state.
- A Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or business discipline, supported by 10 years of post‑college work experience in conducting financial audit and providing financial reporting advisory type support to SLED clients in a fast‑paced environment.
- In‑depth understanding of application and implementation of US Governmental GAAP, GASB standards, Financial and Single Audit (Subpart F of the OMB Uniform Guidance) and OMB guidance.
- Comprehensive knowledge and proficiency in the preparation and auditing of Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR), Annual Financial Statements and Single Audit Report for SLED entities.
- Proficiency in modified‑accrual basis of reporting, grants management, and budgetary reporting.
- Hands‑on experience with business development in the SLED space, and proficiency in deal governance and proposal submission process (should have experience leading multiple proposals in past year).
- Experience with large regional or national Not for Profit (NFP) client is a plus.
- Excellent project management skills.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills and a collaborative approach to management.
- A proven record of excellence when managing, mentoring and improving a team of high‑performing colleagues.
- Dedication to teamwork and leadership.
- Integrity within a professional environment.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a secret clearance or higher.
- Travelability up to approximately 30% for federal practice and up to approximately 80% for state, local and education practice.
- CGFM and/or CDFM.
