The Combustible Dust Cleaner is responsible for maintaining a clean and safe work environment by removing combustible dust from designated areas using approved cleaning methods and equipment. This role requires strict adherence to safety protocols, including proper operation of aerial lifts and compliance with OSHA standards for combustible dust hazards.
Key Responsibilities- Perform routine and scheduled cleaning of areas where combustible dust accumulates, including overhead structures, equipment surfaces, and ventilation systems.
- Operate aerial lifts, scissor lifts, and other elevated work platforms safely and in accordance with company and OSHA guidelines.
- Inspect work areas for potential dust hazards and report any unsafe conditions immediately.
- Use approved cleaning tools and methods (e.g., vacuum systems, non-sparking tools) to minimize dust dispersion.
- Follow lockout/tagout procedures when cleaning near energized equipment.
- Maintain accurate cleaning logs and safety checklists.
- Wear required PPE (respirators, harnesses, protective clothing) at all times during cleaning operations.
- Participate in safety meetings and ongoing training related to combustible dust hazards and lift operation.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid aerial lift certification (scissor lift, boom lift) or previous experience.
- Knowledge of OSHA standards related to combustible dust and fall protection.
- Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
- Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in dusty environments.
- Previous experience in industrial cleaning or facility maintenance.
- Familiarity with NFPA standards for combustible dust.
- Ability to operate industrial vacuum systems and other specialized cleaning equipment.
- Skills and Abilities
- Must be 18 years or older and possess a valid driver’s license with a clean MVR.
- Must have reliable transportation.
- Ability to work efficiently and effectively.
- Comfortable working in a dynamic environment.
- Possesses good verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong detail orientation.
- Customer-oriented and friendly.
- Education and Experience
- High school diploma or GED.
- Some experience with performing administrative tasks is required.
- Physical Requirements
- Stand and walk for long periods of time.
- Repeat the same movements.
- Frequent bending and twisting.
- Able to lift, push & pull 50 lbs.
- Able to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends.
- Full time 1st Shift
- Monday–Friday, 6:30 AM – 3:00 PM
- Occasional nights and weekends as needed
