At DMU you will make a meaningful contribution to the dynamic future of Medicine and Health Sciences. DMU is seeking a Maintenance Technician I to perform a broad range of semi-skilled tasks and maintenance duties in the building maintenance field. Including, but not limited to, plumbing, drywall, floor care, carpentry, appliance repair, and painting. Assist in emergency services in addition to routine work as directed.

Also includes moving furniture, assisting with room setups, grounds, snow removal, and performing other duties to maintain operations.

What you’ll do:

  • Perform routine maintenance such as painting, drywall repair, changing filters, preventative maintenance on equipment, and furniture moving/set up.
  • Assist with maintaining physical plant such as responsible for maintaining the buildings and related equipment in a timely, efficient, and professional manner.
  • Perform general construction assignments including, carpentry, woodworking, drywall installation and repair, landscape building and repair, and other associated tasks.
  • Operate and maintain tools and equipment such as power tools, snow removal equipment, shop equipment, scissor lifts, forklifts, test equipment, etc.
  • Assists grounds crew with snow removal and responses to emergency situations as needed.
  • The Director and Assistant Director of Facilities Management require all employees to be available to meet the needs of university operations. Employees may be asked to assist with construction projects, mowing, grounds, snow removal, moving furniture, or cleaning as necessary.

What we are looking for:

  • High school diploma or the equivalent is required, additional education a plus.
  • Two years experience in building maintenance responsibilities; working at an educational institution a plus.
  • Must have, or have the ability to obtain a chauffer’s license.
