Field Service Technician – Omaha, NE

Hiab Brasil invites a dedicated technician to deliver preventive and corrective maintenance on our mechanical, hydraulic and electrical equipment across the Nebraska area. The role combines customer service, technical troubleshooting, and safety compliance while driving continuous improvement under the guidance of the District Service Manager.

Purpose of the Position

Perform service activities—preventive maintenance, safety checks, corrective actions, upgrades and refurbishment—on equipment at external and Hiab locations following Manager’s instructions. Contribute to productive customer relationships and adhere to best practices in administrative and technical actions.

Main Tasks And Responsibilities Technical and Product Knowledge
  • Stay updated with technical developments via internal service bulletins and required training
  • Maintain current technical specifications of relevant equipment
Managing the Customer
  • Respond to customers as instructed to maximize satisfaction
  • Follow Hiab Customer Satisfaction Guidelines
Risk Management
  • Protect self and others
  • Follow applicable safety rules, working practices and environmental requirements
  • Alert Manager if safety jeopardized
  • Operate service vehicle in compliance with Hiab driving policy and regulations
  • Maintain vehicle to manufacturer's standards with fleet support
  • Respect Hiab and third‑party property
Service Process
  • Inspect, troubleshoot, report and plan service as instructed
  • Submit regular reports as specified
  • Keep adequate records and maintain documentation
Commercial Awareness and Cost Effectiveness
  • Plan and manage time and resources for maximum benefit
  • Make cost‑effective judgments on service approaches
  • Maintain documentation for accurate invoicing
  • Manage security and traceability of spare parts
New Business Opportunities
  • Recognize sales opportunities and communicate to Manager
Continuous Improvement
  • Provide feedback to support quality improvement
  • Participate in innovative thinking
  • Coach junior colleagues and trainees
  • Conduct self in manner that promotes positive Hiab brand image and follows Quality System rules
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Accountabilities
  • Maintain a 1‑year DOT medical card
  • Adaptable, mobile, capable of working unsupervised in variable conditions
  • Vocational qualification in mechanical engineering, hydraulics, electrics, electronics or equivalent experience
  • Knowledge of all Hiab product lines (mechanicals, hydraulics, electrics, electronics)
  • Understanding of diesel engines and hydraulic drive systems
  • Fluent in local language and working knowledge of English
  • Operating licenses for all equipment used
  • Maintain records per agreement terms
  • Know and comply with Hiab operational and technical procedures and workplace instructions
  • Adhere to all safety and environmental requirements
  • Own required tools
Education

High School diploma or GED required; technical or secondary college preferred.

Working Experience

3+ years of mechanical, hydraulic or electrical operations preferred.
