Overview

Assistant Attorney General—Administrative Law Section. Iowa Attorney General Brenna Bird seeks to fill an Assistant Attorney General position in the Administrative Law Section of her office. This is a non-merit position. Candidates must follow the instructions in the To Apply section. Positions in this class are exempt from the screening and referral requirements of the Iowa Department of Administrative Services - Human Resources Enterprise.

Responsibilities
  • Represent agencies, boards, commissions, and their employees in administrative tribunals, as well as state and federal courts, including appellate courts.
  • Assist with the review and drafting of administrative rules.

Qualifications
  • A passion for public service and a strong commitment to justice.
  • A minimum of three years of practicum experience is preferred, but we also welcome applications from new attorneys.
  • Prior judicial clerking experience is a plus.
  • A license to practice law in Iowa, or the ability to obtain one, is required.
