Our state government client is seeking an experienced Senior UI/UX Developer / Architect with deep expertise in enterprise design systems and accessibility standards (WCAG 2.1 / Section 508).
This role will focus on building accessible, reusable, and scalable UI components for multiple high-visibility enterprise systems.
The ideal candidate has a proven track record of creating design systems from scratch
, ensuring federal accessibility compliance
, and collaborating across teams to deliver high-quality user experiences.
- Design and implement enterprise design systems and reusable UI component libraries
- Develop accessible wrapper components using HTML, SASS, and Angular
- Ensure UI components meet WCAG 2.1 / AAA accessibility standards
- Implement semantic HTML and ARIA roles for accessibility compliance
- Use Storybook for component development, documentation, and collaboration
- Conduct accessibility testing and audits
- Collaborate with development teams to ensure accessibility best practices
- Provide UX guidance and accessibility reviews for enterprise applications
Projects include major enterprise systems supporting multiple state agencies and AI-driven applications.
Required Qualifications- 5+ years of professional Front-End Development experience
- Deep understanding of WCAG 2.1 / AAA and Section 508 accessibility standards
- Strong knowledge of HTML, SASS, and Angular
- Experience with ARIA roles, semantic HTML, and accessibility testing tools
- Experience with Storybook for component documentation
- Strong UX design and accessibility principles
- Experience working with USWDS (U.S. Web Design System)
- Familiarity with .NET, MVC, and SQL environments
- Experience integrating front-end applications with .NET backends
The ideal candidate is an accessibility champion and design system expert who can guide teams in building scalable, accessible UI components across enterprise applications.
