Title: Batch Operator

Location: Des Moines, IA

Duration: 12 Months

Schedule: 12:00 midnight – 8:30 am

This position assists with the OCIO operators and IA Department of Revenue systems.

• Alert customers/programmers of potential problems.
• Report all job failures and other problems to Program Manager and assist with resolution.
• Report and coordinate resolution of all problems in the absence of Program Manager.
• Assist and provide support to Program Manager.
• Be knowledgeable in JCL.

• Distribute customer daily reports.
• Provide statistics gathered from various sources.
• Printing output – print nightly output and state warrants.
• Deliver output.
• Resolve issues.
• Escalate unresolved problems to duty officer.

• Coordinate mainframe batch job schedules.
• Change JCL (Job Control Language) as appropriate, adjusting dates, tax types, and other data.
• Schedule & submit daily, weekly, monthly & annual batch systems; monitor jobs for multiple systems for completion and expected results.
• Verify job setup and networking accuracy (Control M). Troubleshoot Control M issues.
• Reconcile multiple transactions received from internal/external sources before loading them into respective systems each night.
• Operate department computer systems and equipment; troubleshoot in an entry‑level capacity with minimal supervision.
• Alert Program Manager of any problems preventing successful completion of a process or customer service issue.
• Use JCL, utilities, and JES III to operate computer systems.
• Make changes to JCL as needed/instructed by Program Manager.
