HOST POSITION PROFILE – Part Time —
Reports To:
Director of Food + Beverage. Position is Non-Exempt.

THE ROLE
The Restaurant Host reports to the F&B Managers and works in a team environment with barbacks, bartenders, servers, dishwashers, cooks, and chefs. You should have a background in basic service techniques, strong time management, and a customer-first mindset. As the Restaurant Host you will be responsible for creating memorable guest experiences and ensuring a positive first impression for guests.
All service team members are expected to be reliable and responsible. You will arrive on time, polished, and prepared to work. We emphasize treating teammates as we treat guests — with a smile, a helping hand, and a willingness to jump in to assist in any situation. You will develop trusting, transparent relationships with peers and hotel associates. WHAT YOU WILL DO
- Uphold and model the company’s principles of People, Place and Character, driving collaboration, intuition and translocal hospitality
- Assist in all aspects of a guest’s experience from greeting to service delivery, ensuring proper steps of service and timely responses to requests; maintain guest satisfaction and adjust as necessary
- Participate in daily lineups and quarterly all-staff meetings to develop ideas and objectives with the service team, provide constructive feedback, and strategize to address missed opportunities
- Maintain working knowledge of menus and ingredients, understand what is unavailable for the day, and serve alcohol safely, responsibly, and legally; accurately account for all monetary transactions during your shift
- Serve food and beverages based on guest requests while adhering to health and safety procedures to keep guests safe
- Keep work area clean and organized, respect guests and peers, and demonstrate a sense of urgency for guest requests
- Demonstrate understanding of basic culinary and beverage terms and expand knowledge to enhance dining experiences
- Observe conditions of facilities and relay challenges to F&B leadership, communicating with F&B and Culinary teams to ensure timely service
- Assist in other areas of the F&B Department as needed, including Banquets, Bar and In-Room Dining

WHAT YOU WILL NEED
- Passion for the People, Place and Culture of our community, with a love of restaurants and guest service
- Minimum of one (1) year experience as a Restaurant or Event/Banquet server in a hotel or free-standing restaurant
- (IPACT) Alcohol service certification and Safe Staff Certificate of Completion, or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire
- Must meet local age requirements to serve alcohol
- Flexible schedule including nights, weekends and holidays
- Fluency in English, both verbal and non-verbal
- Evening availability required
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
- Continuous standing and walking; able to navigate wet floors
- Fine motor coordination for pouring beverages, decorating cocktails, and serving tables
- Ability to move tables and chairs as needed
- Standing and walking for 4-5 hours at a time
- Lifting and carrying up to 30 lb. trays or boxes occasionally
- Negotiating varied floor surfaces
- Carrying items over the shoulder occasionally
- Hand and elbow movements for polishing glassware, setting tables, and pouring drinks
- Good vision and balance for navigating varied surfaces
- Handling candles and hot liquids (coffee and tea)
- Must be able to work in extreme temperatures (e.g., freezers
-10°F and kitchens +110°F)
