Assistant Private Chef (Contract Role)

Opal & Oak is expanding, and we are seeking a highly skilled, driven, and dependable Assistant Private Chef to join our growing culinary team.

This role offers the opportunity to work directly alongside Chef Harrison Tille
, supporting elevated dining experiences for private clients, pro athletes, VIP guests, corporate events, and luxury gatherings.

Responsibilities
  • Assist with private dinners, multi-course tasting menus, and curated culinary events
  • Support food prep, cooking, plating, garnishing, and tableside service
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient kitchen environment
  • Deliver luxury hospitality standards with exceptional attention to detail
  • Represent the Opal & Oak brand with professionalism and respect
  • Uphold strict confidentiality regarding clients, events, and internal operations
  • Demonstrate discipline, reliability, and the ability to perform well under pressure
Compensation

Contract Rate: $25–$100 per hour
, depending on experience, skill level, and event type.

Location

Primarily Iowa, with potential travel for select events.

Our service region regularly includes Humboldt, Des Moines, Ames, Iowa City, and surrounding areas.

  • Culinary experience in private dining, fine dining, or luxury catering is preferred
