Overview
Coordinates speech, language, voice, and swallowing therapy plans following completion of the assessment as defined by Iowa Licensure requirements. Provides and delegates clinical rehabilitation services to improve and maintain function, focusing on speech, communication, swallowing activities. Acts as a resource to the interdisciplinary team, applying skills of the profession to improve outcomes of persons served. Actions are team oriented to successfully provide quality care and a high level of satisfaction for persons served through evidence‑based practice.

Responsibilities
Care Delivery:
- Evaluates individuals with medical or health related conditions limiting their ability to speak, communicate, swallow, or perform functional activities.
- Develops, implements, and delegates individualized treatment plans to promote speech, communication, swallowing, and function.
- Coordinates the plan of treatment with individuals served, families, and other disciplines.
- Monitors response during therapeutic interventions.
- Supports evidence‑based practices.
- Communicates and collaborates the plan of treatment with individuals served, families, and the interdisciplinary team.
- Displays creativity and innovation in service delivery.
- Provides timely and accurate documentation and billing according to regulatory and third‑party requirements.
- Manages resources to maintain efficient and effective operations.
- Demonstrates initiative to improve quality and maximize patient experience.
- Demonstrates professionalism and personal growth in daily actions.
- Promotes professional rehabilitation objectives among interdisciplinary team members.
- Utilizes a holistic approach considering physical, psychosocial, spiritual, educational, safety, and related criteria.
- Participates in process improvement for care delivery enhancement and clinical excellence.
- Fosters professional relationships offering opportunities for enhanced patient access and care delivery.
- Exhibits flexibility with assignments including hours of operation to meet business and customer needs.
- Exhibits willingness to accept and learn new skills.
Education: Graduated from an accredited program in the relevant field.
Experience: Experience in the specialty area.
License(s)/Certification(s): Current Iowa license as an SLP. Current BLS (CPR). Valid driver’s license for work‑related travel.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Effective communication with diverse professional, educational, and lifestyle backgrounds. Basic computer skills.
Preferred: Electronic Medical Record (EMR) experience.
Other: Use of usual and customary equipment used to perform essential functions of the position.
