Licensed Children's Mental Health Therapi House of Mercy is seeking licensed mental health therapists to serve children in outpatient mental health and children of mothers in our residential substance use program. House of Mercy uses evidenced-based practices to provide high-quality, personalized care for each client. Since opening in 1988, House of Mercy has dedicated itself to making the community a healthier place by providing quality substance use disorder treatment and mental health programs to individuals and families in need of these services.

We are looking for candidates who: want to contribute to a culture that is supportive of boundaries and work/life balance (we understand that being a therapist isn't your only identify); possess a passion for serving children along with their families with sensitivity to the service population’s cultural and socioeconomic characteristics; have a desire to meet clients where they are through a trauma-informed, person-centered approach;

and can maintain a high standard of courtesy, cooperation and professionalism when collaborating with members of clients’ interdisciplinary teams.

Essential Functions
  • Performing comprehensive assessments (psychosocial history) to analyze and synthesize the client’s status and addresses the client’s strengths, problems, and areas of clinical concern.
  • Continually assesses client needs/strengths, behaviors, and progress toward desired outcomes.
  • Maintain timely and compliant clinical documentation
  • Provide psychosocial counseling/treatment services to restore clients to optimum social and physical well-being (within their capacity).
  • Provide individual therapy sessions with child, parent, caregiver, etc. and family sessions with children members of their family circle.
  • Coordinate services with community agencies as needed to provide an extended, high-quality continuum of care
  • Prepare and distribute required reports and other documentation of services according to House of Mercy policies and procedures, applicable laws, regulations and licensing requirements.
  • Utilizing evidence-based treatments such as Child Parent Psychotherapy and DBT-Child.

Minimum Requirements Mental Health Therapist I
  • Master’s Degree in a human services related discipline from an accredited program, required.
  • Temporary or Independent license to provide mental health therapy in the State of Iowa- tLMHC, tLMFT, LMSW, LMHC, LISW, LMFT
  • Proof of completion of Mandatory Reporter abuse training specific to population served within first 30 days of employment.
Minimum Requirements Mental Health Therapist II
  • Master’s Degree in a human services related discipline, required.
  • Licensed to provide mental health therapy in the State of Iowa (LMHC, LISW, LMFT, etc.) and meets the requirements necessary for an LPHA designation.
  • Proof of completion of Mandatory Reporter abuse training specific to population served within first 30 days of employment.
