Arvum Senior Living is looking for an Assistant Memory Care Activities to join our community Addington Place of Des Moines.

Responsibilities
  • Assist in the development and oversight of resident activities.
  • Plan, schedule and conduct programs that provide physical, intellectual, social, emotional and spiritual opportunities for residents in our community.
  • Attend all community planned functions and help coordinate the event from beginning to end including set-up, running, and breaking down for the event.
  • Assist in preparing and organizing a calendar of events.
  • Must be willing to work flexible hours (evenings and every other weekend) for planned activity events.
Qualifications
  • Associate’s Degree in social work, recreation, sociology, psychology or related field preferred
  • One to three years experience in assisted living or long term care working with memory care patients preferred
  • Proficient verbal, written and presentation skills
  • Ability to encourage and motivate older adults
  • Computer skills including Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Valid Driver’s License with Chauffer’s
  • Demonstrated creative ability
  • Strong skills in organization, delegation and consensus building
Educational Requirements And Experience
  • One (1) year of experience in a healthcare environment
Knowledge,

Skills And Abilities
  • Language Ability:
    Ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally, speaking the primary language of the residents.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
  • Cognitive Demands:
    Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Computer

    Skills:

    Ability to use Microsoft Windows, including Word and Excel. Ability to use email and the Internet. Ability to use client tracking and design software.
  • Competencies:

    Must demonstrate an interest in working with a senior population. Interacts with guests, residents and staff in a courteous and friendly manner. Supports organization s goals and values. Balances team and individual responsibilities. Ability to handle multiple priorities. Ability to delegate assignments. Competent in organizational and time management skills. Must demonstrate good judgment, problem solving and decision-making skills. Ability to work flexible schedule.
Environmental

Adaptability
  • Works primarily indoors in a climate-controlled setting
  • Possible exposure to chemicals as identified in the MSDS Manual
  • Continuous exposure to clients and/or family members who may be under stress.
