Position: Practice Manager I Des Moines Peds

Responsibilities

  • Lead day‑to‑day operations of assigned clinic location(s) to ensure proficient and quality service is delivered within all sections of the clinic; ensuring compliance with regulations and standards.
  • Effectively lead, train and develop a team of employees including hiring, training, and development.
  • Promote personal growth, development and understanding among colleagues.
  • Present problems in a professional manner and help coordinate solutions inter‑departmentally.
  • Creatively seek and implement solutions to existing and potential problems while staying within budget guidelines and improving the quality of health care delivered.
  • Ensure changes in charging and reimbursement are integrated into every level of clinic operations by coordinating with the clinic team.
  • Assist with documentation audits.
  • Partner with the Medical Director to ensure success within the clinic.
  • Prepare, monitor, and adjust budget.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor clinic objectives, processes, procedures, standards and educational programs in conjunction with Mercy One Medical Group mission and philosophy.
  • Collaborate with Medical Group Administration and other leaders to develop, evaluate and monitor standard processes based on best practices.
  • Develop and maintain quality assurance programs, e.g., nursing, accounting.
  • Proactively analyze clinic operations to identify barriers or new opportunities.
  • Direct maintenance of the physical environment and equipment.
  • Serve as a liaison between physicians and Medical Group Administration, promoting understanding and agreement regarding future goals.
  • Direct, motivate and evaluate activities of clinic employees, ensuring that clinic goals and expectations are met.
  • Ensure the impact of constant change is positive for employees, patients and physicians.
  • Direct clinic in complying with applicable laws and regulations (e.g., OSHA, CLIA, COLA, HIPAA, Stark).
  • Ensure patient concerns are addressed and that appropriate and timely follow‑up is performed.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, nursing, health administration, or related field required; or enrolled in a Bachelor’s Degree program and actively pursuing.
  • In limited circumstances, internal candidates’ Mercy One leadership experience may be considered in lieu of education requirements at the sole discretion of Mercy One Medical Group senior leadership.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience managing colleagues in a healthcare setting.
  • Experience working with physicians and advanced practice providers.
  • Experience in an organization of comparable size and complexity, preferably in healthcare.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
