Financial Manager, CFO, Accounting & Finance, Financial Reporting
This position provides leadership plus the financial, accounting and transactional technical expertise required for the successful operation of Iowa Natural Heritage Foundation (INHF). This fiscal management is needed for the organization to successfully initiate and execute the large, complex land protection projects and diverse conservation programs that are central to its nonprofit mission.
This senior leadership position performs critical finance and accounting operational tasks; provides special knowledge and expertise related to mission‑centric projects and activity; collaborates with peers and colleagues to improve operations and results; and provides insight and analysis to equip leadership to set direction and make informed decisions.
The position reports directly to the President of INHF, has responsibility and authority over all accounting functions at INHF and provides supervision to the Senior Accountant position. The INHF CFO works closely with leadership staff to best serve the needs of their respective departments.

Accounting functions- Oversee all tasks related to General Ledger and banking activity, including journal entries, account transactions, reconciliation and reporting.
- Manage the processes and controls for payroll, accounts receivable and accounts payable activities.
- Lead the budget and audit processes.
- Manage all filings required by states and the federal government.
- Assure compliance with all nonprofit generally accepted accounting principles.
- Ensure completion and filing of state registrations for fundraising where required.
- Ensure timely and accurate completion of 1099s and W-2s.

Financial Management- Manage cash flow, internal controls, property and casualty insurance, financial risk, loans and investment managers.
- Includes finance, accounting and reporting activity related to large, complex nonprofit programs and land projects.
- Perform vendor management for banking relationships, employee benefits, property and casualty as well as worker's comp insurance coverage, and corporate cards.

Support INHF President and Board of Directors- Inform and advise INHF President and Treasurer regarding fiscal affairs.
- Provide leadership to the board's Finance, Investment and Audit Committees.

Support staff, donors and partners- Provide supervision and oversight of the Senior Accountant position.
- Collaborate with colleagues to better deliver on INHF's mission and maintain relations with donors and project partners.
- Includes fiscal management, analysis and reporting of charitable gift annuities, reserved life estates, temporarily restricted funds, agency funds, restricted endowments and financial aspects of grant requests and reports.

Other duties as assignedThis FTE exempt position typically involves at least 40 hours per week. Occasional travel for board meetings is required, and there is opportunity for travel to events and project meetings.
Requirements- Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance required.
- CPA certification preferred.
- Master's degree preferred.
- Ten years of related experience including 5 years of experience with a nonprofit organization.
- Strong interpersonal skills and organizational ability.
- Proficient in accounting systems and Microsoft Office. Experience with Sage Interact software is a plus.
- Support of and interest in conservation.
The salary range for this position is $133,000 - $175,000.
