Job Description:
The Project Engineer supports the planning, coordination, and execution of all engineering and construction activities related to electrical systems on a large‑scale data center project. This role involves managing technical documentation, assisting with procurement, tracking project progress, and ensuring that field operations align with project specifications, safety standards, schedule milestones, and quality expectations. The ideal candidate is detail‑oriented, proactive, and comfortable in a fast‑paced environment with demanding timelines typical of mission‑critical work.
- Assist with the development, review, and management of electrical construction drawings, specifications, RFIs, submittals, and change orders.
- Maintain organized logs and documentation to ensure accurate project tracking.
- Coordinate with vendors, engineers, GC/CM teams, and field supervisors to ensure timely information flow.
- Support the BIM/VDC process by collaborating on model updates, clash resolution, and design modifications.
- Work with the team on electrical constructability.
- Perform tasks to ensure cost development aligns with the budget.
- Handle job billing and estimation for the data center.
- Strong understanding of electrical systems, drawings, and construction practices.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office; familiarity with Bluebeam, Revit, Navisworks, or similar tools is highly desirable.
- Excellent communication, organization, and problem‑solving abilities.
- Ability to work collaboratively with field crews, engineering teams, and general contractors.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or related field (or equivalent relevant experience).
- Experience in electrical contracting or electrical engineering preferred.
- Experience with data centers, mission‑critical facilities, or large industrial projects is a plus.
This is a Contract position based out of Des Moines, Iowa.
Pay And BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $43.27 - $57.69/hr.
