Construction Engineer

Our client is searching for a Construction Engineer to join their team. What you will do:

• Oversee and coordinate construction activities for municipal infrastructure projects, ensuring compliance with plans and specifications
• Monitor project progress, budgets, and schedules; address issues to keep projects on track
• Review design documents and provide feedback to consultants and contractors
• Conduct site visits to verify quality, safety, and adherence to standards
• Collaborate with contractors, consultants, property owners, and internal teams to resolve challenges
• Prepare and review reports, cost estimates, and project documentation
• Assist with bid preparation, contract administration, and change order review
• Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, as well as city policies

What you will need to be successful:

• Bachelor's degree in construction engineering, civil engineering, or a related discipline
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in construction or municipal infrastructure projects (roads, utilities, stormwater, etc.)
• Professional Engineer (PE) license in Iowa, or ability to obtain within 12 months (EIT considered if close to licensure)
• Strong communication and active listening skills; able to work effectively with consultants, property owners, and other stakeholders
• Outgoing, personable, and highly dependable with a strong work ethic
• Iowa DOT certifications (materials inspection, quality assurance) are a plus
