Senior CAD Technician – Transportation
HNTB is seeking a team‑oriented transportation designer/technician with experience in KDOT, MoDOT, KTA, and/or local municipal transportation and roadway design, and proficiency in CAD design software. The focus is on local and statewide highway transportation projects, with additional opportunities to support other disciplines through our Central States Offices and firmwide transportation practice.
Responsibilities- Verify the accuracy of drawings, ensure compatibility across disciplines, and check detail and quantity calculations.
- Calculate design data, prepare layouts, detailed specifications, estimates, and reports.
- Assist in preparing engineering studies and evaluations from initial concept to design stage, in collaboration with project engineers/architects.
- Attend project and pre‑construction meetings to provide input and ensure adherence to policies, procedures, and specifications.
- Resolve technical design problems, including field investigations or inspections, detailed design work, and data analysis.
- Perform general administrative assistance by maintaining complex project plans and monitoring accomplishments relative to targeted goals.
- Recommend process improvements for project delivery at the office level.
- Calculate quantities and perform engineering related computations.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering Technology or related field and 6 years of relevant experience.
- Associate of Science in Drafting or Technical School or related and 8 years of relevant experience.
- In lieu of education, at least 10 years of relevant experience.
- Good time management skills.
- Good communication skills.
- At least 2 years of experience with transportation/roadway projects.
