Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site position located in Des Moines, IA. As a Public Safety Specialist, you will be responsible for implementing safety measures, monitoring school grounds for safety and security, and responding promptly to any incidents or emergencies. Additional responsibilities include collaborating with staff and students to promote a secure environment, conducting risk assessments, and maintaining detailed incident reports. This role plays a critical part in fostering a safe and supportive learning atmosphere.

Qualifications
  • Knowledge of safety protocols, emergency response procedures, and risk management practices
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to engage effectively with students, staff, and community members
  • Organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to maintain accurate records
  • Problem-solving abilities and the capacity to handle high-pressure situations calmly and efficiently
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team and adapt to dynamic environments
  • Experience in public safety, law enforcement, or a related field is a plus
  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional certifications in security, safety, or related areas are advantageous
