The Education Program Consultant (Social Studies) will be an integral member of the Learner Strategies and Supports Bureau, providing technical assistance, leadership and support to school districts, Area Education Agencies, and non-public schools.
Your ResponsibilitiesParticipate on Department internal teams (e.g., Iowa Academic Standards, Iowa eLearning Central) to integrate statewide efforts related to effective instruction aligned to Iowa's social studies standards within a multi-tiered system of support (MTSS). This work includes:
Support scaling and implementation of standards-aligned, evidence-based practices in social studies across the state. This includes participation in existing statewide collaborative implementation and scaling structures, including:
Provide guidance, within the Department's vision and structures, related to implementation of Iowa's social studies standards, including staying current on both federal and state requirements related to social studies, and communicating with internal and external Iowa stakeholders.
Provide support of EPA Water Infrastructure for the Nation (WIIN) Grant:
Lead Testing in School and Child Care Program.
- Experience utilizing Microsoft Suite.
- Experience teaching social studies and/or related fields.
- Experience in instructional design and professional development.
- Experience providing technical assistance and professional learning to educators.
- Experience interpreting and implementing state or federal education law.
Hours:
8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., Monday – Friday; some nights and weekends, occasional in-state and out-of-state travel.
