The Iowa Department of Education seeks a dedicated individual to serve as the school improvement consultant for all school districts and accredited nonpublic schools in Northwest and Prairie Lakes Area Education Agencies.
Your Responsibilities- Lead accreditation/improvement activities for districts/schools.
- Write accreditation reports pursuant to visits, including areas of strength and areas of noncompliance.
- Provide districts and schools with technical assistance to maintain compliance with state and federal law and improve results.
- Attend Superintendents' meetings in the AEA.
- Participate in AEA accreditation visits.
- Participate in development and implementation of tiered accreditation/differentiated accountability system for school improvement.
- Define a tiered system of supports for districts and schools in Iowa.
- Other duties as assigned.

Hours8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., Monday – Friday; some nights and weekends, occasional in-state and out-of-state travel.

- Ability to interpret and break down highly technical and regulatory language, and present information in an understandable manner.
- Conflict resolution and interpersonal skills.
- Desire to work with diverse teams and stakeholders.
- Experience utilizing Microsoft Suite.
- Experience providing technical assistance and professional learning to educators.
- Experience interpreting and implementing state or federal education law.
