Locum Jobs Online  is working with Lancesoft Inc to find a qualified Gastroenterology MD in Des Moines, Iowa, 50325!

An established inpatient program in  Des Moines, Iowa  is seeking a  Gastroenterology Physician  interested in a  locum-to-permanent  opportunity beginning  October 2025 . This role is hospital-based and requires  24-hour beeper call coverage (7a–7a) .

The physician will provide inpatient GI coverage, including consults and procedures for an adult patient population. Expected workload includes a mix of inpatient procedures and approximately  3–4 outpatient procedures per day  when applicable.  ERCP experience is required , while  EUS is highly preferred .

This position is ideal for a gastroenterologist seeking a clear pathway into a long-term, permanent role following a locum engagement. All providers must be genuinely interested in permanent placement and willing to attest to that intent.

Requirements

Board Certified or Truly Board Eligible (within 3 years of residency)

Active Iowa medical license or IMLC eligibility

ACLS certification

COVID vaccination compliance

Ability and willingness to work inpatient GI coverage

ERCP required

EUS highly preferred  (ERCP-only candidates will be considered)

Clean malpractice and background history

NPDB Self-Query Report dated within 30 days
