Architectural Sheet Metal Estimator​/Project Manager

Role Overview

We are seeking a driven Architectural Sheet Metal Estimator / Project Manager to support pre-construction estimating, bid development, and project execution for commercial architectural sheet metal and roofing systems across the Des Moines, IA region
. This role combines detailed cost estimating and quantity takeoffs with hands‑on project coordination and client engagement throughout the construction lifecycle.

As part of a team delivering precision custom sheet metal fabrication and installation solutions from design through project close‑out, you’ll work with general contractors, architects, and fabricators to ensure successful project outcomes.

• Perform detailed cost estimates and material takeoffs for architectural sheet metal and roofing systems from plans, specifications, and construction documents.
• Analyze labor, material, and equipment pricing to build accurate, competitive proposals.
• Identify scope gaps, constructability issues, and risks; develop clear RFIs and bid clarifications to protect margins.
• Procure and level vendor/supplier pricing, maintaining current cost assumptions for the Des Moines market.

• Manage awarded projects from preconstruction through closeout, ensuring quality, budget, and schedule compliance.
• Coordinate with general contractors, architects, subcontractors, and internal teams to maintain production schedules and resolve field conditions.
• Conduct site visits to verify scope, measurements, and compliance with design requirements.
• Oversee change order administration, cost control, and project documentation throughout execution.

• Build and maintain strong client relationships, clearly communicating scope assumptions and pricing decisions.
• Participate in bid presentations, scope reviews, and negotiation discussions.
• Work closely with production/fabrication teams to ensure accurate interpretation of design details and project handoffs.

• 3+ years of experience in commercial architectural sheet metal or roofing estimating and project management in a construction environment.
• Strong ability to read and interpret construction drawings, blueprints, and specifications.
• Proficiency in estimating software and digital takeoff tools, plus strong Microsoft Office (Excel/Word) skills.
• Demonstrated experience managing project schedules, budgets, subcontractor coordination, and client communications.
• Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
• Knowledge of Iowa building codes and commercial construction practices preferred.

• Experience with roofing systems, metal fabrication methods, and architectural sheet metal applications.
• Familiarity with project management tools (e.g., Procore, Microsoft Project) and industry estimating platforms.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and coordinate teams in a fast‑paced construction environment.
