We believe safety isn’t just a policy — it’s a responsibility to our people. Our culture is built on teamwork, accountability, and doing things the right way, and safety is foundational to how we operate.
As a Safety Manager, you’ll work directly with Superintendents, Foremen, Project Managers, and subcontractors to promote safe work practices on all Aurum projects throughout Iowa and the surrounding region.
What You’ll Do
- Lead and oversee safety programs across multiple concrete construction projects in the Des Moines / Ames market
- Conduct regular onsite safety inspections, audits, and hazard assessments
- Ensure compliance with OSHA standards, company policies, and project‑specific safety requirements
- Develop and deliver safety training, toolbox talks, and onboarding for field teams
- Support incident investigations, corrective actions, and safety documentation
- Partner with Superintendents and Foremen to identify risks and implement proactive safety measures
- Maintain safety records, reporting, and metrics in alignment with company standards
- Help drive a strong culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement
- 5+ years of safety experience in commercial, industrial, or heavy civil / concrete construction
- Strong working knowledge of OSHA regulations and construction site safety practices
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills — able to lead, teach, and influence field teams
- Ability to conduct thorough inspections and clearly document findings
- Experience delivering safety training and leading toolbox talks is a plus
- Willing and able to travel within a 3–4 hour driving range
- Certifications such as OSHA 30, CHST, CSP, or similar are preferred (but not required)
- A proactive, solutions‑oriented mindset with a genuine passion for keeping people safe
Aurum is part of Goldenrod Companies — a family‑office‑backed group with deep development expertise and long‑term growth mindset. You’ll find:
- A strong and growing pipeline of concrete work in Iowa and the Midwest
- Leadership that values safety, quality, and doing right by our teams
- The ability to shape and influence how safety is executed across a growing operation
- Competitive compensation and benefits
