Tax Accountant/Sr Tax Accountant, BHE Consol

DescriptionThe senior tax accountant is responsible for the preparation of the consolidated MEHC federal tax return and various consolidated MEHC state tax returns. This position will also support the preparation of quarterly federal and state estimated tax payments and monthly cash tax reports.
Responsibilities- Participate as a member of the consolidation team to prepare consolidated federal and state tax returns on an annual basis. (65%)
- Prepare quarterly federal estimated tax payments. (10%)
- Prepare quarterly state estimated tax payments. (10%)
- Prepare monthly cash tax report. (5%)
- Provide guidance to less experienced staff. (0-5%)
- Perform additional responsibilities as requested or assigned. (0-5%)
- Provide training and support tax accounting policies and procedures. (0-5%)
- Provide technical input to assist in development of project planning. (0-5%)
- Bachelor's degree in accounting.
- Graduate degree preferred.
- Certified public accountant preferred.
- Four or more years of big four or industry equivalent tax experience, four of which is in tax accounting with a certified public accountant designation or a graduate business degree for the Tax Accountant position.
- Six or more years of big four or industry equivalent tax experience, four of which is in tax accounting with a certified public accountant designation or a graduate business degree for the Sr Tax Accountant position.
- Strong accounting and financial statement knowledge.
- Strong computer software skills. Creative thinking abilities.
- Strong organization and planning skills required to manage project-oriented work.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Effective analytical, problem‑solving and decision‑making skills.
- Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and projects concurrently.
