Our CAAS practice is looking for a Controller to join our growing Construction industry team, based out of either our Des Moines or Cedar Rapids, IA office location.
As a Controller, you will help our clients transform their business with a collaborative approach that allows them to seamlessly mitigate risk, overcome challenges, meet deadlines, and identify personnel to help them with their workforce needs.
ResponsibilitiesAssist the accounting team to record complex transactions.
Review complex account reconciliations prepared by the accounting team.
Complete the monthly, quarterly, and annual adjusting and closing process.
Adhere to the client’s organizational policies and procedures, federal and state policies and directives, and current accounting standards.
Provide detailed review of the general ledger, financial statements and required work papers.
Prepare work papers for the independent auditors, if applicable.
Analyze and interpret financial information and regularly present to the client’s leadership.
Develop budgets, analyze variances, and implement corrective actions as needed.
Review payroll and payroll tax compliance.
Education: Bachelor's degree is required. Combination of related experience, education, and training may be accepted in lieu of degree. CPA certification is preferred but not required.
Experience: 6 years relevant work experience as a Controller or equivalent is required.
Accounting back-office experience is required.
Relevant experience in the Construction industry is highly preferred! Public accounting experience preferred but not required.
Aptitude for developing and maintaining a thorough working knowledge of accounting software and systems. Quick Books experience is preferred.
Proficiency with applicable software (Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.).
Travel: This position works primarily in-office and requires frequent local travel to/from client sites. It may require occasional non-local or overnight travel for client visits, training, meetings and/or other business-related purposes.
