Sr. Accountant

Description We are looking for an experienced and meticulous Senior Accountant to join our team in Des Moines, Iowa. This position focuses on ensuring the accuracy of financial reporting, managing account reconciliations, and overseeing general ledger activities. As a vital contributor to the accounting function, you will help maintain compliance with internal controls, support audits, and drive process improvements. This is a long-term contract opportunity.

Responsibilities:

- Manage and execute month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes with precision.

- Prepare and reconcile balance sheets, bank accounts, and other financial statements.

- Record, review, and analyze journal entries to ensure accuracy and completeness.

- Oversee the integrity and accuracy of the general ledger, addressing discrepancies promptly.

- Assist in the preparation of financial statements in compliance with established guidelines.

- Provide documentation and support for internal and external audit requests.

- Investigate variances and resolve financial discrepancies effectively.

- Contribute to process enhancements and document updated accounting procedures.

- Support accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll functions as needed.

- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting. Requirements

- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required.

- A minimum of 3-6 years of progressive accounting experience.

- In-depth knowledge of account reconciliations and monthly close processes.

- Proficiency in accounting software such as Oracle Fusion

- Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables, formulas, and data analysis.

- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with attention to detail.

- Excellent organizational and communication skills, both written and verbal.

- Capability to manage deadlines and work effectively in a dynamic environment.
