Sr. Accountant

Description We are looking for a highly skilled and detail-oriented Senior Accountant to join our team in Des Moines, Iowa. In this long-term contract role, you will be responsible for managing critical accounting processes, including account reconciliations, monthly close activities, and general ledger maintenance. Your expertise will contribute to accurate financial reporting, compliance, and continuous improvement of accounting operations.

Responsibilities:

- Oversee and execute monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial close processes to ensure timely and accurate reporting.

- Prepare and review balance sheet and bank reconciliations to maintain financial integrity.

- Record, analyze, and review journal entries for accuracy and completeness.

- Ensure the general ledger is maintained in alignment with accounting standards and organizational policies.

- Assist in the preparation of financial statements in compliance with applicable regulations.

- Collaborate with internal and external auditors by providing necessary documentation and responding to audit inquiries.

- Investigate and resolve variances or discrepancies in financial data.

- Contribute to process improvement initiatives and assist in documenting accounting procedures.

- Provide support for accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll functions as required.

- Participate in special projects and create ad hoc financial reports as assigned. Requirements - Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance is required.

- A minimum of 3 to 6 years of progressive experience in accounting roles.

- Demonstrated expertise in account reconciliations and month-end close procedures.

- Proficiency in accounting systems and software such as Net Suite, Oracle, or similar platforms.

- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including proficiency in pivot tables and complex formulas.

- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with attention to detail.

- Excellent organizational skills and the ability to meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.

- Effective written and verbal communication skills for collaboration across teams.
