Deputy Transport Manager

Location: Derbyshire

The Deputy Transport Manager will oversee the day-to-day transport function, ensuring safe, efficient, and cost-effective delivery operations. This includes managing a team of drivers and admin staff, coordinating transport schedules, maintaining compliance, and enhancing customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities:

You will lead operational staff, monitor performance, and implement strategies to optimise transport efficiency. You'll also ensure legal and safety compliance, handle scheduling, support investigations, and participate in disciplinary procedures. Managing resources, maintaining supplier relationships, analysing transport data, and driving continuous improvements will form core aspects of your role.

What We’re Looking For:

* Minimum 1 year’s experience in a transport management role.

* Strong grasp of logistics, fleet operations, and regulatory compliance.

* Confident using transport systems and MS Office.

* Good Leadership skills to lead a team and make sound decisions in a fast-paced environment.

* Excellent communication skills and a commitment to high standards.

Qualifications &

Experience:

* CPC in Road Haulage (nominated on ‘O’ License)

* GCSE English and Maths (or equivalent)

* At least 1 year in a leadership transport role (3 years preferred)

* Strong IT proficiency, especially MS Office

* Excellent organisational and problem-solving skills
