Job Purpose:
To support the successful delivery of mechanical, electrical and civil projects within the water and wastewater industry. The Project Engineer will provide technical expertise, manage engineering documentation, coordinate design and installation activities, and liaise with clients, suppliers, and site teams to ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, and to specification.
Job Responsibilities
· Assist in the planning, design, and execution of water industry projects.
· Provide engineering support across construction, new installations, and refurbishment works.
· Review and interpret technical drawings, specifications, and client standards.
· Ensure compliance with WIMES (Water Industry Mechanical and Electrical Specifications), BS 7671, and
client requirements.
· Coordinate with site supervisors and installation teams to ensure quality and safety standards are
maintained.
· Prepare and maintain project documentation, including RAMS, technical submittals, and progress reports.
· Undertake site visits for inspections, surveys, and technical support.
· Liaise with clients, suppliers, and subcontractors to resolve technical queries.
· Support commissioning and handover processes, ensuring all documentation and testing is completed.
· Promote a strong culture of health, safety, and environmental compliance.
· No role profile can cover every issue which may arise within the post at various times. The post holder is
expected to carry out other duties from time to time, which are broadly consistent with those
described.

Person Attributes
Knowledge and Skills required Project Engineer requires strong engineering knowledge, technical coordination skills, and an understanding of project delivery processes to support the safe, efficient, and compliant delivery of water and wastewater infrastructure projects. Technical and Industry Knowledge
· Sound knowledge of engineering principles applicable to water and wastewater infrastructure, including civil, mechanical, and electrical systems.
· Understanding of water and wastewater treatment processes, pumping systems, pipelines, and associated assets.
· Ability to review and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.
· Knowledge of construction methods, commissioning, and handover requirements for operational water assets. Project Delivery Skills
· Ability to support project planning, scheduling, cost control, and risk management activities.
· Experience coordinating design, construction, and commissioning activities across multiple disciplines.
· Understanding of change management and contract administration processes (including NEC contracting principles where applicable).
· Capability to manage technical queries, site issues, and design changes effectively. Safety, Quality, and Compliance
· Strong awareness of health, safety, and environmental requirements within the water industry.
· Knowledge of relevant engineering standards, specifications, and regulatory approvals.
· Experience supporting quality assurance processes, inspections, testing, and compliance documentation. Communication and Stakeholder Skills
· Effective communication skills to liaise with project managers, contractors, designers, and operations teams.
· Ability to prepare technical reports, progress updates, and engineering documentation.
· Skills in supporting site meetings, design reviews, and risk workshops. Personal Attributes

· Ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary project teams.
· Commitment to continuous learning, technical development, and best practice in water industry project delivery. Experience required 2 Years + in the water industry
Essential Qualifications
· Degree or HNC/HND in Mechanical, Electrical or Civil Engineering (or equivalent industry experience).
· Proven experience as an Engineer in the water industry, utilities, or similar heavy engineering environment.
· Strong technical knowledge of mechanical and/or electrical systems, including pumps, pipework, MCCs, and instrumentation.
· Understanding of WIMES specifications and water industry client standards.
· Excellent communication and organisational skills.
· Proficient in Microsoft Office and project documentation systems.
· Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel.
Desirable Qualifications
· Experience in both multi disciplines
· EUSR Water Hygiene and confined space training.
· Knowledge of project planning software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera).
· Familiarity with CDM Regulations and construction management.
· Experience supporting commissioning and testing activities
