Overview:
My client is currently looking to employ a design engineer who will have a key role in all aspects of design from developing concepts through to producing detailed drawings. The Design Engineer will be involved in reviews through the process (both internal and with customers) plus interaction with suppliers and manufacturers.

Responsibilities:

* Creation of design concepts / layouts

* Creation of 3D solid models

* Creation of detail drawings and design solutions to either ISO and/or ASME drawing standards

* Creation of BoM's (Bill of Materials)

* Collaboration with manufacture suppliers to ensure the cost effective and efficient supply of parts

* When required, preparation of presentation material for design reviews both internal with colleagues, and external with customers

* When required, liaison with the customer to oversee the design process. Travel may be required at customer sites, both domestic and international.

Requirements:

* A degree or HNC/HND qualification in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering

* Sound understanding of mechanical engineering design principles and analysis techniques

* An understanding of manufacturing processes - milling, turning, welding, brazing, 3D printing, moulding and coatings

* Experience of gas turbine component design, gas turbine instrumentation design or other turbo machinery component design

* Experience of using Siemens NX and (ideally) Solidworks to produce design models, engineering layouts and detail drawings

* Experience of Teamcenter, Windchill or other PLM systems
