Position: English Tutor. Job Education & Training Jobs

The Role

We are seeking an enthusiastic and skilled English Tutor to deliver high-quality tuition to multiple KS3 and KS4 students
, including GCSE English Language and Literature
. The successful candidate will plan and deliver engaging sessions that support progress, exam confidence, and independent learning skills.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and deliver structured English tuition for KS3 and KS4 students
  • Prepare students for GCSE English Language and English Literature exams
  • Adapt teaching to meet a range of abilities, including SEND/SEMH needs
  • Use assessment and feedback to track progress and inform planning
  • Create a positive, supportive learning environment that promotes confidence
  • Communicate effectively with parents/carers and the centre manager
  • Maintain accurate session records and contribute to progress reviews
  • Uphold LLH safeguarding, behaviour, and quality standards
Person Specification

Essential:

  • Strong subject knowledge in KS3 and KS4 English
  • Experience teaching or tutoring secondary-aged students
  • Confident delivery of GCSE English Language and/or Literature content
  • Ability to adapt teaching approaches to individual learners
  • Excellent communication and classroom management skills
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
  • Willingness to undergo an enhanced DBS check

Desirable:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), PGCE, or relevant English degree
  • Experience with exam boards (AQA, Edexcel, OCR, etc.)
  • Experience supporting students with SEND or additional learning needs
  • Familiarity with evidence-based tutoring approaches
